Cuban and the HUNT Principles
By looking at Mark Cuban's accomplishments it is clear that the HUNT principles were followed. The hunt principles stand for Harnessing your vision, Underestimating the roadblocks, Networking with other people, and Taking the first step. By looking at how Cuban sold garbage bags to save up money when he was just 12 years old, the HUNT principles can clearly be seen. He knew that he wanted to be able to save up for a new pair of shoes. He "harnessed" that vision and though to himself, "What can I do to accomplish this?" Next, he underestimated all of the roadblocks that could take place. In order to by a pair of shoes he must have had to sell over 100s of garbage bags. This could have created doubt in his mind. Also, he had to compete with other garbage bag selling companies. Both of these obstacles were over come by underestimating the roadblocks. In order to obtain and being to sell the bags, Cuban needed to network. He had to get to know a store that would allow him to sell bags at large amounts and take in all of the profit. He also had to find an area where he could sell bags and collect all of the income without paying any rent. The people that you know often help you succeed in life whether you are selling garbage bags, or potentially growing a large business. Finally, he acted on his vision and took the first step. He sold garbage bags and was able to buy the shoes that he wanted. It may seem immature or not reasonable to apply the HUNT principles to something so small as selling garbage bags, but clearly they can be seen in any business venture small or large. The HUNT characteristics help create successful business entrepreneurs.
